it has been a while. however, i aint been playin games much. HOWEVER, i DID beat fallout 1 and OH MY GOD it is amazing. punishing as hell and very difficult, but amazing. what makes it so good? the combat has a lot of the depth that got simplified out of the game with the introduction of fps combat (i like the fps combat but this is objectively true) including criticals having effects based on a table of rolls (including instakill effects), the moreso strategic elements of having to balance action point use between movement and attacking, and a lot of rng elements as well. now, the combat is one thing, but the STORYTELLING is otherworldly. the freedom of choice you have is amazing, the main story is very linear but you have several different ways to approach it, and the side quests just let you be the most abysmal dogshit person known to man or an amazing human being in the wastes. the villains weren't the most MEMORABLE in my eyes, but the worldbuilding and atmosphere is beyond top tier. the ending pissed me off though. soon ill play fallout 2 (i do have it) so uhhhh review on that maybe? i don't know when i'll get to it tbh. anyhow, this is lorelei, signing off. baiiiiiiiiiii ^-^

cicadamata is an upcoming game, and while the demo was accessible, i played pretty much all it had to offer (aside from rerunning to get a better score). it simply blew me away. the environment is so surreal and busy, but well crafted at the same time. the movement is FAST fast (this is a speedrun game so if u don't like that then this game isn't for you) and the SHOOTING gives me LIFE. the gun feels so responsive, the sound design for it is amazing, and having a SHOTGUN that can turn into a RAILGUN is one of the coolest fucking things i have ever seen in a game. i LOVE a good shotgun in a game, it's 100% a surefire way to my heart. it's not out yet so i can't get a grasp on the lore, but i WILL be watching for this game to release. this is lorelei, signing out. baiiiiiiiii ^-^

FUCK DEAD MONEY. fallout new vegas is an amazing game but i think dead money is legitimately fucking awful. it's not the being forced to adjust so rapidly (nice challenge to have to overcome) i have an issue with, it's definitely not the writing (dog/god is legit shakespearean shit), but its HOW THAT SHIT PLAYS. it SUCKS to play. the map design visually is amazing, the horror atmosphere is amazingly crafted they knocked that shit right out the park. the problem is the maps on a more technical basis. they're like so same-samey it's like shitty godawful mazes, and if there's ONE THING i hate it's shitty mazes. so mazes, already bad enough right? ok so mazes populated with tanky ass enemies. slowly but surely getting worse. now what about mazes with tanky enemies and toxic poison gas that can obliterate half your health bar (I AM LEVEL FUCKING THIRTY ONE BTW). sounds legitimately fucking awful, right? but wait, THERES MORE !!!!! imagine all that with things that can just. blow you the fuck up just KABOOM !!!!! WHO THOUGHT THIS WAS FUCKING FUN? it aggravated me to my very very core i swear, just terrible fucking map design from a playability and enjoyability standpoint. i know i have to beat it but i DREAD booting new vegas up because i know i have to play this shit. this may seem a little harsh, but it pisses me off without fail every single time i play it. this is lorelei, signing out. baiiiiiiiiiii ^-^

been playing echo point nova lately. it's another game made by the same studio that made severed steel (another game that also has my heart!!!!!!) greylock makes really really REALLY cool first person shooter games. but what makes echo point nova really stand out from the pack as a first person shooter game? first things first, we have to cast the fact that it maaaaaay LOOK a liiiiitle generic artstyle wise, and for a while this kinda put me off to it, and its understandable if you feel the same. however, what sets it apart is the GAMEPLAY. i LOVE me an open game that just lets you kinda go crazy and do what the fuck ever you want, and echo point nova understands that perfectly. the world is very open, and the movement options they give you to navigate it are stellar. they eschew a typical sprint in exchange for a HOVERBOARD that can climb up walls, and they give u a grappling hook that can attach to basically EVERYTHING in the world, even the clouds. you can get up to some real spider-man esque shenanigans. the weapons arent the most unique but they mostly act in service to the movement, and honestly they feel satisfying to shoot by themself. great sound design. overall, in the 2 hours i've spent in it so far i've really been enjoying it. i'll probably end up casting it to the side for now though, because a bitch just got the old fallout games, and after playing new vegas (when i complete that ill do a write up on it here), i wanna see how much my choices matter in that game (bc they didnt matter much in fallout 4... i still have some type of love for it bc it was my first fallout but i mean its supposed to be a RPG im supposed to make choices lol cmon) anyhow this is lorelei, signing out !!!! baiiiiiii ^-^
